Today cars, trucks and other vehicles all seem to have a sound system.
Whether the sounds system is a high tech system of the latest inventions
or a basic model it usually includes a radio. Radios have been popular
pieces of electronic equipment since the time that they were invented.
They brought sound and entertainment into home across the world. Radios
were invented as a great form of public information and entertainment.
The first radios appeared in cars in the 1930s; however, cars and pickup
trucks were not routinely available with radios during the 30s, so many
automobile owners began to purchase after market radio systems for their
vehicles. A large amount of the first radios were manufactured by a
company that is popular today, Motorola. These radios were made especially
for automobiles. They brought music, fun and entertainment to every
car trip and family vacation.
The word Motorola is a word that the Motorola Company created to combine
the two words of motion and radio. Motorola made introductory car radios
and they were expensive for the consumer. In fact, most radios ranged
from one hundred to two hundred dollars which was quite a large sum
of money for the time.
Early in the fifties the first FM receivers started to become routinely
available on car radios. These receivers allowed many new radio channels
to become accessible to the car radio listener. In the 1950s Ford Motor
Company modified these FM receivers with the introduction of two buttons
to search for stations on FM and AM frequencies. These buttons were
labeled “town” and “Country.” The town button
would get all local stations and country had a wider range.
As audio equipment and options began to expand so did the car radio.
Radios were quickly offered in all vehicles. In the 1960s the eight
track tape player was invented and began to be included on with some
car radios. This was followed quickly by the cassette player and then
later by the compact disk player. As technology advanced so did car
radios. Soon cars and trucks boasted complete sound systems. Today these
sounds systems have speakers, receivers, and different audio players
that tend to become more advanced as the years go by.
Today stereos and audio players are common in every automobile. There
are even extensive aftermarket stereo systems available for people who
wish to fully accessorize their cars. However, many of these systems
can be expensive and hard to install in order to get a premium sound.
The world of car stereos is ever changing. It seems that technology
is advancing by the minute. Please continue to check this site for the
